The icemaker hook-up kit: Plastic ferrule used with plastic tubing The refrigerator. This appliance was surrounded by a tight enclosure, making access tricky. Luckily, there was a return-air grill right behind the refrigerator. Down in the basement, I used a hole saw to drill an oversize hole, hoping to fish the tubing through. I pushed the tubing through the first hole, trying to find the second hole. But I was unable to fish the tubing through within five minutes, so I removed the duct covering, which was held in place with staples. With the return-air duct exposed, I was able to quickly fish the tubing through the holes. The block of wood was the source of my earlier problems.
My refrigerator ice maker is not working
Fridge and freezer work great and the ice maker is supposed to working, but the people we bought it from never had the ice maker hooked up. So it’s not horrible if the ice machine doesn’t work but it would be great if it did! We got the cold water source all ready to go, but looking to run the line to the fridge, we discoved that it didn’t have the usual threaded waterline connection. Instead there appears to be a small rectangular inset box with openings to either side feeding into the waterlines for the cold water and ice maker.
A refrigerator with an automated ice maker and a built-in water dispenser does absolutely nothing if you do not have a water line to connect to it. Many homes have a refrigerator water supply line.
Home Little Known Facts about Drain Pumps Nearly all commercial ice makers purge water from the system after each ice-making cycle. It doesn’t matter the size of the machine, the rate of ice production, or even what type of ice the machine makes. Commercial quality ice makers simply freeze water on the evaporator plate or within the auger cylinder in the case of flakers and nugget ice makers. The simple physics or chemistry of the process is that pure water, the water without any minerals, sediments, or other material suspended in the liquid, freezes “first”.
The other water typically cycles through the system again, often being captured in a reservoir below the evaporator plate before being pumped back up into the main reservoir to flow to the evaporator again. This cycle can vary in length of time and the amount of water circulating, but it is the standard process. Eventually, the water that doesn’t freeze during the ice-making cycle has to get dumped.

As needed just use a bucket or pitcher to fill up the water tank ontop. I mainly want this for the ice so dont see filling it all of the time.
I looked in the manual and it says you need psi of water pressure. What do you think? Could I do this with a tank ontop? Would I need a tank I could pressurize? Any suggestions on this?
